Nia Wyn writes her memoir in journal form and tells us about her child Joe who has suffered severe brain injury resulting in cerebral palsy. It charts her attempts to reconstruct their lives and find alternative ways to heal her son. Whilst styled as a journal there are strong elements of poetry to both the words and their layout. Without wishing to sound jaded its been awhile since I have been so surprised and captivated by a book. Its written in such an honest and beautiful style, despite its heartbreaking content. It’s also a reminder that even on our toughest days there are others facing harsher battles in life and doing so with grace, courage and dignity.
